Before constructing your foundation, be sure that your building site is level in all directions.

It is your responsibility to check with your local zoning/building department to assure yourself when picking your building site that you have proper setbacks from your property line and/or other buildings.

Also make sure that when picking your building site that you are not incriminating on any power or sewage lines or any other easements.

Most building sites start off in a grassy area. You must remove the grass and topsoil off of the area where you are planning on constructing your building.

When preparing to grade your site be sure to allow ample space all the way around your building for construction purposes. US Buildings recommends that you allow a 5' perimeter around your building so that you can back fill towards your footer to allow for proper drainage away from your building. This 5' perimeter also allows for ample space for construction. Example: If your building size is a 25 wide x 50 long you will need to grade the site 35 wide x 60 long.

Because there are so many different local soil and loading conditions, we can't recommend or be responsible for the design of the building site. Most people hire a local contractor who is familiar with the local area and soil conditions.

Leveling your site:
The building is designed for "Do it yourself" construction. From one corner to the other and one side to the other you want to get your building site as level as possible. However you can work your form boards to pour your foundation and/or slab as long as your building site is within 2" of level.
